If you spent much time around John McConnell, you would probably here him say, “April 22nd is not Earth Day.” He had a point. The first governmentally recognized observance of “Earth Day” was for an event McConnell pioneered on March 21, 1970. The name though has, over time, become affixed to this date. While he would not want us to call it “Earth Day,” today is, nevertheless, a fitting day to remember the late Mr. McConnell and his wife Anna. Here’s a profile I did for Flourish, perhaps the last interview with the McConnells before John’s death.
