Rainbow Warriors

This morning, June 30, a rainbow was visible over Boise at 6 AM (the earliest in the day this writer has ever seen a real one). Rainbow regalia has been ubiquitous, however, throughout the month of June. A friend described this as a “green grocer moment,” referring to Vaclav Havel’s essay on the ways that systems of lies are sustained via a ubiquity fueled through millions of little subjugations. In June rainbow flags have flown over government buildings, and the most impressionable among us have had singing drag queens thrust upon them. No rainbow poster will be placed in this shop, though.
